Youtube/Weird Fruit Explorer
Jared Rydelek has a very unconventional hobby that he documents on his Youtube channel; he reviews unusual fruit, often traveling around the world to do so, for his series Weird Fruit Explorer. From fairly well-known fruits like kumquat & the infamous durian to far more obscure ones like santol & chocolate pudding fruit and even fruits from plants that aren't known for their fruits like nutmeg & ginger, Rydelek describes them all in a way that make it easy for the viewer to imagine their flavor, often analogizing them to more common fruits. Also, his day job, performing as a contortionist, fire eater & sword swallower, gives Rydelek the opportunity to travel to several exotic locations to find fruit and he often films his reviews in those places as well.
In addition to Weird Fruit Explorer, Rydelek features two other series' on his channel: Jared's Junk Food Reviews & That's Not Coffee. In Jared's Junk Food Reviews, he tries the junk food available in different places around the world and reviews it just as thoroughly as the fruit that he covers in his main series. These videos also document Rydelek's quest to find Pepsi Blue. By the way, I should point out that they start with very dissonant electronic music, so you might want to turn down the volume before clicking. That's Not Coffee is a monthly series in which Rydelek and his friends Albo, Stuart & Lex prepare and review various coffee substitutes ... including soy bean, rice & spelt ... in an effort to find one that's just as satisfying as the real thing. Spoiler Alert: They have yet to succeed.
I'll leave you with the latest episode of Weird Fruit Explorer and, of course, a link to Rydelek's Youtube channel.
